The first two releases at Narawntapu and Stoney Head proved successful leading to a third release planned for the Musselroe Wind Farm to Mt William region. Woolnorth Wind Farms has a unique involvement with the Tasmanian devils as its operational sites are found within the most resistant (Bluff Point and Studland bay Wind Farms) and most susceptible populations (Musselroe) to the disease.
Whether the release is to take place on the wind farm is still to be determined, however, in combination with the company’s road kill management program and own monitoring efforts, the releases should prove to be a significant boost for the local devils. The company is supporting the STDP with in-kind contributions, local knowledge, and on-site accommodation for the team.
