Originally started in 1933, the Bridport Lifesaving Club has evolved over time into the Bridport Surf Lifesaving Club reinvigorated in 2009 by a passionate local community.

Woolnorth Renewables are proud to be able to provide ongoing support of the Bridport Surf Life Saving Club. The sponsorship arrangement between Woolnorth Renewables and the club provides certainty for the ongoing delivery of the Bridport SLSC Nippers program and the Woolnorth Renewables Junior and Senior Statewide Surf Sports Carnival.

The 2024/25 Nippers program commenced on the 1st of December 2024 with around 60 Nippers taking part. The program for children aged 5-14 will run through December, January and February and aims to develop essential surf skills, confidence and lasting friendships. Run entirely by volunteers, the Nippers program is a fun, friendly and supportive environment where children feel safe to challenge themselves in and around the water. The sponsorship contribution from Woolnorth Renewables allows the club to purchase essential Nippers equipment including boards, safety equipment and training aids e.g. CPR mannequins and training defibrillators. This equipment allows the club to deliver an outstanding program that develops essential life skills in the participants.

On the 7th and 8th of December the club hosted the Woolnorth Renewables Junior and Senior Statewide Surf Sports Carnival. The event attracted over 400 competitors from clubs across the state. The event is organised and run entirely by generous volunteers who work hard in the weeks leading up to the event and across the two days. The contribution from Woolnorth Renewables ensures the club has well maintained rescue equipment and facilities suitable for delivering such a large event. Further, it allows the Bridport team to compete on equipment provided by the club, reducing barriers to participation. The Woolnorth Renewables Junior and Senior Surf Sports Carnival also provides regional benefits to the community. It is estimated around 600 people visited Bridport over the weekend, many staying in the town and visiting shops, pubs and cafes. It’s a significant financial injection into the region.

Woolnorth Renewables is delighted to partner with such a valued community service for North East Tasmania.
