Woolnorth Renewables is proud to support the Bridport Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) and its highly valued Nippers program, helping young people across North East Tasmania develop vital water safety skills while building confidence and friendships.

The club’s Nippers program runs throughout December, January and February each year and provides children aged 5–14 with the opportunity to learn essential surf safety skills in a fun and supportive environment. With the help of dedicated volunteers, the program encourages children to challenge themselves while feeling safe and supported in and around the water. Support from Woolnorth Renewables has helped Bridport SLSC continue delivering this standout program for the local community.

Alongside the mainstream Nippers program, Bridport SLSC also delivers Starfish Nippers, an inclusive initiative designed for young people with intellectual impairments, physical disabilities and additional needs who may find mainstream junior surf lifesaving challenging. The program provides children and their families with the opportunity to safely enjoy the beach and participate in surf lifesaving activities in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Bridport Surf Life Saving Club volunteers make a significant contribution to the North East community. The club delivers more than 800 patrol hours across the summer months, helping keep local beaches safe for residents and visitors alike.

The club also hosted the Surf Life Saving Tasmania Statewide Junior and Senior Carnival, which attracted more than 400 competitors from across the state. Other community activities included the Swim the Pier event as part of the Tasmanian Ocean Swim Series, which drew more than 80 competitors, and providing water safety support for the Bridport Triathlon and local school end-of-year picnics.

Bridport SLSC also runs Silver Salties, a social inclusion program that encourages older members of the community to stay active and connected through surf lifesaving.

Woolnorth Renewables is pleased to support initiatives that strengthen community wellbeing and help local organisations continue their important work.

The club’s volunteers, sponsors and community supporters all play a vital role in ensuring these programs continue to deliver meaningful benefits for North East Tasmania.
